Dangers of Dirty Bong Water: Why You Need a Bong Cleaner Kit

Dangers of Dirty Bong Water: Why You Need a Bong Cleaner Kit

Bongs are a popular way to smoke cannabis; many smokers swear by them. But what about the water that goes into the bong? Is it just there to cool the smoke, or does it serve a more critical purpose? What about when the water gets dirty? How often should you change it? What are the health risks if you don't?

This blog post will examine the dangers of dirty bong water and what you need to know about it.

What is Bong Water?

Bong water is the water that goes into the base of a bong. When you take a hit from a bong, the smoke passes through the water before it enters your lungs. This has the effect of cooling the smoke, making it less harsh to inhale.

The water also serves another purpose. As the smoke passes through the water, it filters out some harmful substances in the smoke. This makes the smoke less harmful to inhale.

You can use any water to fill up the base of your bong but our recommendation is to use cold tap water and if you’re feeling luxurious add a few ice cubes.

What's in Dirty Bong Water?

Dirty bong water can contain various substances, depending on your smoking and how often you clean your bong. When you smoke cannabis, resin builds up in the bong. Over time, this resin can build up in the water, giving it a dark and murky appearance.

Tar is another substance that can build up in the water over time. This is the sticky substance that's left behind when you smoke tobacco. While cannabis doesn't contain as much tar as tobacco, it can still leave some residue.

Moreover, bacteria can grow in the water if you don’t clean your bong regularly. This can lead to a foul odor and make you sick if you inhale the bacteria.

This is why using a bong cleaner kit regularly is so important. Not only does it extend the life of your bong and keep it looking good, but it also protects your health.

Is Dirty Bong Water Dangerous?

In general, dirty bong water that has been used once or twice is not dangerous to inhale your weed smoke through. However, some risks are associated with inhaling very dirty or old water.

Very dirty bong water contains microorganisms and bacteria. When you inhale your weed smoke through this, these bacteria can lead to respiratory infections, particularly if you have a weakened immune system.

Changing your bong water after every use is a good rule of thumb. Maximum after the second use. Also, don't leave dirty water inside your bong for long periods. Even if it's clean, water that sits still is at risk of molding.

How to Clean Your Bong?

It's important to note that you should never use bleach or other harsh chemicals to clean your bong. These substances can be harmful if you inhale them along with the smoke.

Use mild cleaning solutions like isopropyl alcohol or vinegar, which are safe and effective.

If you use isopropyl alcohol, use a high percentage (around 90%) to ensure it effectively kills bacteria and other microorganisms.

Vinegar is also a great option and is a natural cleaning solution that won't harm your bong or your health.

Additionally, you should replace your bong water after every use to prevent bacteria from growing and ensure the water doesn't become too dirty. If you leave the water sitting in your bong for too long, it can start to smell bad and may even be harmful to inhale weed through.

Conclusion

Bong water is an essential part of the bong smoking experience. It cools the smoke and filters out some of the harmful substances in the smoke. However, it would be best if you cleaned your bong regularly to prevent the water from becoming contaminated with bacteria, chemicals, and other toxic substances.
