Black History Month is here, and we’re honored to highlight some of our favorite Black-owned brands, both inside and outside the cannabis space. Simply Pure Trenton, an entirely Black-owned cannabis dispensary based in New Jersey, opened its doors in July of 2024. Founded by Dorian Morris, Undefined Beauty is a wellness brand that blends CBD with adaptogens and botanical extracts for skincare that soothes, hydrates, and protects. If you’re into glassware that feels like a work of art, Estelle Colored Glass has you covered. This Black-owned brand, founded by Stephanie Summerson Hall, creates stunning hand-blown pieces in vibrant, nostalgic hues.
5. Brandon Blackwood – Timeless Bags with a Statement
You’ve probably seen the iconic “End Systemic Racism” tote, but Brandon Blackwood’s entire collection of handbags and accessories brings effortless cool with classic silhouettes and bold textures.

Founded by Shannon Maldonado, Yowie is a creative home and lifestyle shop based in Philadelphia, and one of the absolute best in the city. 8. Josephine & Billie’s – A Speakeasy-Style Cannabis Dispensary
Inspired by the jazz-age teapads where Black communities once gathered to enjoy cannabis and conversation, Josephine & Billie’s is more than just a dispensary—it’s a space built on education, inclusivity, and community. Co-founded by Whitney Beatty and Ebony Andersen, it’s the first of its kind, offering a curated selection of products designed with women of color in mind.
9. Solonje Burnett – The Ultimate Weed Auntie & Cannabis Advocate
Solonje Burnett is more than just an advocate—she’s a movement. She's been a co-founder, an advocate, a humanist. She’s been at the forefront of cannabis equity, education, and cultural change. Known as the ultimate "Weed Auntie," she curates events that center Black and brown voices in the cannabis space, creating immersive experiences that blend music, art, and intentional consumption. Black History is Everyday History
Black people have shaped everything—art, fashion, food, music, design, and so much more. The world as we know it is built on Black creativity, labor, and innovation. Every trend, every cultural shift, every piece of style that feels effortless and cool? It probably started with Black people.
Celebrating Black brands isn’t just about one month. It’s about recognizing and uplifting the voices, businesses, and people who continuously shape culture. Supporting Black-owned businesses means investing in the future of creativity, entrepreneurship, and community wealth. It’s about protecting the spaces that Black people have carved out for themselves, ensuring they thrive in an industry and world that has often pushed them aside.
Black history is past, present, and future. It’s in the music you love, the art you admire, the food you crave, and the style you wear. It’s in every part of our lives, every single day. So, let’s celebrate it, share it, support it, and above all protect it.
