What is a Weed Hangover? How do I get rid of it!

What is a Weed Hangover? How do I get rid of it!
Most of us have experienced a hangover after drinking but a weed hangover!?

So what exactly is a weed hangover? The technical definition of a weed hangover, although not an official medical term— is when you feel the effects of weed even after the high is long gone. It can cause symptoms like feeling tired, having a headache, being forgetful, and sometimes the worst, having a dry mouth.

The Urban Dictionary definition -

A hangover from weed may be a nightmare when you have something going on that day, but it might not be so bad when you're free all day.
It's what happens the day after you smoke a ton of weed. You might have a pot hangover if you woke up with dry lips, dry eyes, dry throat, brain fog, and a headache.

What is a weed hangover?

It's difficult to pinpoint precisely when the term "weed hangover" first appeared in discourse, as weed for recreational purposes has a long history that predates modern terminology. However, the term "weed hangover" seems to have become more common in recent years as marijuana has become increasingly legalized and mainstream.

As more people have begun to explore the use of marijuana for recreational purposes, many have reported experiencing residual side effects the next day, which they have described as a "weed hangover." This phrase is used by many in the cannabis community to describe the symptoms that can occur the day after heavy consumption.

If you have a weed hangover, you may experience some of the following symptoms:

  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Dry mouth
  • Reduced appetite
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Brain fog
  • Anxiety or irritability

The severity of weed hangover symptoms can vary depending on the individual, the amount and potency consumed, and other factors such as age and overall health.

While there is limited scientific research on the causes and treatment of a weed hangover, there is a belief about how THC, the primary psychoactive cannabinoid extracted from the cannabis plant, affects the body. THC can remain in the body for several hours after use and can cause changes in the brain's chemistry that can lead to the residual symptoms associated with a weed hangover.

It's important to note that everyone is different. Not everyone who uses marijuana will experience a weed hangover, and the severity and duration of symptoms can vary widely.

Now the real question is, How do I prevent a weed hangover?

To avoid the possibility of a hangover, start with a small amount of weed and gradually increase your dosage until you find a level that works well for you. It's also important to stay hydrated, eat those munchies, and get enough rest to help minimize the likelihood and severity of a weed hangover.
