It's 420, and we'd rather be wandering through the soft blur of the holiday season at Villa Mairea. Lights glowing, air crisp, and the whole world smelling faintly like pine, cinnamon, and maybe a little leftover smoke from earlier.

Somewhere between lighting the menorah and realizing Christmas is, somehow, next week 😱, it hit us that the holidays are officially in motion. Like really moving. The kind of moving where days blur together, playlists repeat, and you swear you just bought wrapping paper yesterday.
Hanukkah is here, Christmas is waiting around the corner, and the calendar feels a little too confident lately. There’s something sweet about this stretch, though. The glow of candles at dusk. City streets that feel softer under string lights. A collective agreement to slow down, even if just for an afternoon. Maybe that looks like lingering over Hot Chocolate. Maybe it’s standing still in the cold, headphones on, pretending you’re in a movie. Maybe it’s doing absolutely nothing and calling it a plan. (Our favorite choice)
This week has us thinking about how people mark the season in their own way. A city-girl Christmas that trades rules for personality. Gingerbread buildings in New York that somehow make us emotional every year. A menorah built from recycled skateboards, because creativity always finds a way. And, on repeat, the one Christmas song that feels right no matter how many times you play it — Christmas Tree by V, filling the room while time quietly does its thing.
So, without further ado, we have our weekly inspiration for you to spark your afternoon daydreams. 🌿✨
A New Spin On A City-Girl Christmas
Christine Gachot’s take on a city girl Christmas is less about red and green clichés and more about a holiday that feels modern, personal, and a little unexpected. Her style swaps classic wreaths & plaids for minimalist lights, eclectic florals, and artful touches that make New York in December feel both lived-in and quietly special. There’s a relaxed elegance to it! Festive dinners in bold outfits, playful décor, and the kind of holiday that feels like you, not a checklist
The Worlds Tiniest Gingerbread Cities Are Back, And They're Weirdly Emotional
New York’s annual Gingerbread City is back, turning gingerbread, icing, and candy into tiny, whimsical architecture that feels like a fun, snow-soft daydream. Local designers & institutions build edible models of real buildings and imagined spaces, all decked out in sugary detail that makes you want to slow down and look twice. (It also reeeeallyyy makes you want a cookie)
Someone Just Built a Menorah Out of Recycled Skateboards
And honestly… it rules. Bright colors, worn wood, and a dose of DIY spirit make it feel both nostalgic and completely fresh. It’s holiday creativity at its most stoned-genius level: take what you love, repurpose it, make it glow, and don’t overthink it.
